1965 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe. 327ci, 350hp (L79 option from the factory), 4 speed manual Muncie M20 (close ratio) 4.11 positraction LSD. Finished in Rally Red with red leather interior and knock-off wheels. Currently on Historic Registration.

Delivered new in March 1965 and imported in to Australia in September 2011, this car has travelled only 85,500 miles. The car presents as it did from the factory, with the only modifications being for safety and reliability (improved brakes for example).

The L79 327 is numbers matching, including its original “Camel Hump” 461 heads with the larger 2.02”/1.60” valves. The car also features the rare F40 heavy-duty suspension package. It's fitted with its original close-ratio Muncie 4-speed and positraction LSD (date-code and numbers matching). Kelsey-Hayes-style knock-off wheels are the correct style for '65.

The car is mechanically excellent, featuring a new DeWitts aluminum radiator, balanced and blueprinted L79 327 (with less than 6000km since being professionally rebuilt in 2021), rebuilt steering box, new clutch, rebuilt shifter, rebuilt positraction LSD, complete refurbishment of the rear suspension (all rubbers, bushings), complete new 2 1/2" Corvette Central exhaust system (imported from US) with stainless Magnaflow mufflers and ceramic-coated original manifolds, Wilwood front brake calipers, Koni shocks, PerTronix Ignitor III ignition, new white-stripe tyres and hundreds of other new parts (with receipts for everything).

The engine bay was meticulously restored to original in 2021. The original ignition shields and air cleaner are present as are the original finned aluminium valve covers. The exterior and interior of the car have also been carefully maintained with every detail factory-correct.

Corvette historian Bill Gould of Auto Ancestry in the USA has traced the car's history back to the original owner. A very extensive history file includes the original owner's manual, receipts going back over 40 years, hand-written maintenance logs from previous owners, professional appraisal documents, show judging sheets, NCRS bulletins and more. Every detail of the cars maintenance since 2018 has also been thoroughly documented online.

This is a stunning, original car that is an absolute joy to drive — a rare example of an unmolested 1965 Corvette Sting Ray.
